A Unique
Piece of Art

Made according to the initial plans of the Colosseum in Rome, the Colosseum made of glass is a unique masterpiece in Romania and in the world, created over a period of 4 years and almost 5 months. During this time, the author invested patience and skill for 8 hours a day without stopping. If at the base of the construction was used a single sketch drawn on paper, the next levels were calculated and visualized first in Alex’s mind, after which they became a reality through talent and a lot of work. Each of the 197833 pieces of glass assembled in the construction was hand-cut and hand-worked, using only a pencil with a diamond tip for cutting and special clippers for breaking. When taking a closer look, it is noticed that each level of the Colosseum, from the floors, arches, windows, corridors, pillars, all correspond to reality, only on a smaller scale.

In June 2010, he dared to dream, for the first time, of the possibility of building a 3D glass work. After finishing the church, he started working on Solomon’s temple on a smaller scale.

In 2012, during a visit to Rome, some influential people, fascinated by Alex’s unique talent, proposed the creation of the Colosseum, a masterpiece much more impressive than the previous ones. Returning home, Alex decided to go beyond his limits, always thinking about how he could make this work, in these dimensions. Two years later he started working on the project. Now, Alex is enjoying the final result and is waiting to see his work of art valorized.
